Why this position exists

The Project Manager serves an integral part of both interoffice and client/vendor communications and operations; providing clients with prompt replies, attention and precise answers, while also pushing clients to provide requested assets and information. Internally, the Project Manager supports the Senior Project Manager, Senior Digital Producer and CEO by proactively completing tasks, and being cognizant of how they can help improve communication and process. Task requests, budgets, timelines, organization and communication are the full time focus of SM2’s Project Managers.

As it pertains to SM2, the Project Manager will achieve this in the following ways:

Project Management Skills

  1. Taking ownership of projects from beginning to end, and ensuring they stay on track.
  2. Utilizing Project Management Systems according to a predetermined process in order to provide engineers with actionable requests.
  3. Having a light understanding of the technology being used and why it is being used, in order to provide confident and accurate information.
  4. Recognizing opportunities to increase productivity and willingness to share ideas and take initiative and risks to improve SM2’s processes.
  5. Understanding internal cost structure.

Customer Relationship Skills

  1. Supporting our senior PMs and engineers by managing client expectations regarding deliverables, budgets and timeframe; and constantly monitoring client needs.
  2. Responding to clients with informed and helpful next steps and answers. Providing tactful, well-timed and informed pushback on clients when needed.
  3. Learning the technology and the needs of the engineers in order to ask the right questions and gather the required assets and information.
  4. Recognizing opportunities for upsells and new projects.

1 month

  • Become familiar with the SM2 Dev project process and increase technical knowledge.
  • Gain an understanding of the digital tools SM2 uses for day-to-day business.
    • Harvest
    • Asana
    • Jira
    • Slack
  • Become familiar with the content management systems used by SM2.
  • Begin sitting in on meetings with the Senior Digital Producer and Senior Project Manager and gain familiarity with clients.
  • Actively assisting the team, owning projects, and gathering information in an effort to maintain timelines.

4 months

  • Full comfortability with speaking to clients, updating timelines and setting tasks.
  • Confidence in providing tasks to the engineering team, and providing applicable information in order for them to complete said tasks.
  • Confidence in the WordPress CMS and the ability to make updates to enterprise level websites.
  • Full integration into active and pipeline projects without supervision from team members.
  • Complete management of digital tools.

8 months

  • Ability to attend meetings without support from the CEO or Senior Management.
  • Ability to support company growth, by managing projects and helping to improve workflow.

  • Invoicing on assigned projects
  • Lead Follow Ups on assigned projects
  • Light website updates (after training)
  • Management of service contracts
  • Organization of Project Deliverables

Skill set & experience

Although not required, having some experience and a skill set that allows a faster integration with our team and process is preferred. SM2 will provide training on any areas that the candidate does not have experience in. A lack of any of the following experiences does not rule out a candidate.

    • Excel, Word & Presentation Software (PowerPoint, Keynote)
  • Experience
    • 1- 3 years of Project or Account Management experience (inside or outside of Marketing, PR, or Web Agencies)
